In the ever-evolving landscape of Canada’s cannabis industry, few brands have made as significant an impact in as short a time as Coterie. Founded in 2020, Coterie has rapidly ascended the ranks, culminating in their recent accolade as Craft Brand of the Year at the 2024 ADCANN Awards. This recognition not only underscores their commitment to quality but also highlights their innovative approach to sustainability.

Coterie’s journey began modestly. Their initial products, by their own admission, lacked the distinctive edge that has now come to define the brand. Rather than resigning themselves to mediocrity, chasing potency and trends, Coterie doubled down on research, development, and an unwavering commitment to small-batch, craft cultivation. The result? A brand that has gone from relative obscurity to leading the industry in just four short years.

The company’s rapid expansion included the opening of a state-of-the-art growing facility that champions energy-efficient operations, allowing it to scale production to meet its rapidly growing demand while minimizing its overall environmental footprint—a cornerstone of their brand ethos.

Coterie Frosted Fruit Cake

Entering the AIO Vape Category

The brand’s latest offering—Menthol Ice All-In-One—is a testament to this mindset.

Vape waste is a growing problem, with millions of non-recyclable cartridges and batteries ending up in landfills. Coterie is addressing this head-on, offering customers the first ever biodegradable vape with a removable, recyclable battery, ensuring consumers get the convenience of an all-in-one device without the guilt of single-use waste.

For any cannabis brand, winning an ADCANN Award is a significant achievement, but winning two is especially meaningful. Coterie prides itself on creativity, community and storytelling, so having its The Big Play campaign with FIKA get the nod for Marketing Campaign of The Year only serves to validate the path it’s chosen.

With momentum at an all-time high, the question now is: What’s next for Coterie? Given their track record, expect more sustainability-driven innovation, deeper community engagement and, of course, more incredible flower. In fact, 2025 is shaping up to be a banner year.

New Drops in 2025

In the first couple months Coterie has launched not only the Menthol Ice All-In-One, but also Purple Zushi,  an aromatic and potent pheno-type of the iconic cross of Zkittles and Kush Mints #6, and Frosted Fruit Cake, a high-potency indica leaning hybrid coming from a cross of Fruity Pebbles OG x Wedding Cake, both of which are generating significant buzz and excitement amongst the industry’s aficionados.

Still to come: Blue Ztarburzt, an exotic cross of Purple Thai x Afghan strains and Strawberry Gary, a sativa leaning cross of Gary Payton and Red Pop, two absolute gems that will continue the lore surrounding the brand.

Ultimately, Coterie’s continued investment in environmentally conscious production and game-changing product suggests they’re the ones setting the trends. And in a market that’s becoming increasingly competitive, that’s exactly the kind of leadership that will keep Coterie ahead of the pack.

So for cannabis consumers who value craft quality, sustainability, and innovation, Coterie isn’t just a brand to watch—it’s a brand to believe in.
