Humber Polytechnic’s Centre of Social Innovation is hosting an event at Humber’s North Campus on March 22 in partnership with the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) and the S.E.E.D. Initiative.
Careers in Cannabis: Pathways and Skills Training is an all-day cannabis job skills development event, where there will be a variety of training and information sessions, industry speakers, and networking time. The event will suit anybody who is looking for growth in their job, but it will especially benefit those who are interested in getting into the cannabis industry or are already in the industry but want to move into different areas. That said, all are welcome.
Whether you are in the cannabis industry, looking for a fresh start, currently unemployed, or new to the field, this event will benefit you.
Canada legalized cannabis on October 17, 2018, making it the second country to do so. OCS and Deloitte found that, between 2018 and 2022, the cannabis industry created over 48,000 jobs in Ontario. The Careers in Cannabis event is built to help you stay up to date within the industry and provide you with the tools needed to be successful. From HVAC technicians to growers to marketing specialists, there’s a space for you in the cannabis industry.
Working in this young, innovative industry allows individuals to make a difference and support Canada’s leadership in cannabis. With new opportunities, products, and processes emerging all the time, the industry offers significant potential to shape a safe and enjoyable consumer experience for all.
As the industry grows, Canada demonstrates leadership in an undefined space. Other countries around the world are now building their legalization plans with an eye towards Canada, which means our experience also shapes how the world experiences cannabis.
Industry growth must also prioritize equity and diversity. Most importantly, promoting equity and diversity in the cannabis industry addresses historical injustices and systemic barriers from a century of cannabis prohibition. However, research also shows that diverse teams excel in problem-solving and driving business success. Attracting talent and experiences from a variety of educational, cultural, socioeconomic, and professional backgrounds is vital for innovation and resilience.
Careers in Cannabis: Pathways and Job Skills Training is happening on March 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is 19+. There are limited tickets available, so RSVP now at careersincannabis2025.eventbrite.ca to secure your free spot!
